After looking at house-and-land packages and various accommodation options including aged care facilities our client decided to make full use of the acreage they were living on and maximise it to its true potential by building a granny flat on the available land. They reviewed our range of standard designs and particularly liked the “Contempo” and wanted to customise the design to suit their elderly parents’ accessibility needs and to enjoy the beautiful surrounding views.
“The meeting with Nathan went really well and we liked that everything was presented on 3D software. Being in construction I was very much in favour of going to a “one-stop shop”. From design to architecture and building, they could do it all. I knew that this would save me a lot of time project managing.”
The living and dining areas open out to a large wraparound verandah – one of the main features of this design – creating a nice transition between internal and external spaces. During the build, the regulations for secondary dwellings (granny flats) changed. Because of this, we were able to incorporate a separate walk-through laundry with a back door into the design.
